The NAACP marched with other groups at the United Nations and across the nation against Voter ID Laws9the new Jim Crow). The GOP is now on the defensive about their attack on voting rights. In the rural South,many people of colour have no birth certificate because they were born to a midwife. The barriers to getting a state issued ID without a birth certificate are very costly. Others are dependent on the rides to the polls provided by church-organized on early voting Sunday voting drives, which have been shut down in states like Florida.
